Our Process
Spencer Restoration's Method of Hand Cleaning Chandeliers
Every chandelier receives the same meticulous, step-by-step care — from power-down to final inspection.
Power to all chandeliers will be shut off before the cleaning process begins.
Depending on the height of the chandelier, a ladder or scaffolding will be moved into place to safely reach the fixture.
All crystal components and electrical connections are inspected to ensure they are secure and functioning properly. Any burned-out bulbs are reported to the Chief Engineer for tracking.
Working from top to bottom, all non-crystal parts — canopy, chain/stem, top crown, candle arm, and central column — are wiped down with a microfiber cloth.
Each chandelier's crystals are labeled, removed, and hand-cleaned to eliminate built-up dust and pollutants. Each crystal is then dipped in a solution bath, removed, and left to air-dry on microfiber towels.
While working on each chandelier, any burned-out bulbs identified during inspection are replaced. Replacement bulbs are supplied by the property.
After all chandeliers are completely clean and reassembled, electric power is turned back on and each crystal is inspected again for cleanliness. If anything needs attention, power is shut off and a final cleaning is performed.
All equipment is packed up and the immediate work area is thoroughly cleaned up before we leave.
